Mom and I

Mom, when I was a child, I depended on you so much.
Not just the basics, the extra tuck in my sheets at night, the cookie break on a rainy afternoon
But the kind of comforting love that followed me wherever I went, like an unseen hug that made me feel safe and treasured.
A lot has changed since then- I’m older now and making my own way in the world.
But I’ve come to realize that no matter wherever I go,
or how much I accomplish, I’ll never outgrow your love.
It’s such a big part of who I am- a part I’ll always cherish, a part I’ll always need.
